This is why the Earth isn’t a perfect sphere.

Now, don’t get too excited, we’re not saying it’s flat, but it does bulge at the equator (it’s an ‘oblate spheroid’!), because when things spin, they tend to flatten out.

This is also why our solar system is all in one flat plane. As the big molecular cloud that formed our sun and planets started to condense, it was spinning faster and faster, meaning that all the matter flattened out into one disc.
